Maintain a steady speed. Don’t speed up frequently because you’ll waste energy. Remember that you’ll also waste energy each time you slow down your motorcycle speed. Drive around the given speed limit; besides gaining fuel efficiency, you will also save yourself from accidents.
Drive carefully. Hard braking, rapid acceleration, and violent driving and speeding waste much gas. Drive gently because you might also put other motorists in risk if you don’t. Your engine will also wear quickly if you don’t.
Take care of your motorcycle. Keep your vehicle in prime situation to save money and fuel. You’ll also avoid maintenance costs and you’ll minimize dangerous emissions.
Keep your motorcycle’s engine correctly tuned. Have regular tune-ups if your vehicle is experiencing problems like failing emission tests. Make sure that your motorcycle is running properly before you use it. Make a regular schedule for engine check-up.
The tires of your motorcycle must always be properly inflated. The tires must be properly pressured. Keep in mind that underinflated tires will make your engine work harder; thus, it will use more gas. Keeping your tires inflated will give you less road-resistance so you’ll improve your fuel efficiency. However, avoid over-inflation because you can experience uneven tire wear and handling problems.
Check your vehicle’s tire pressure regularly. Look for uneven wear signs or embedded materials that may cause air leaks. Check your motorcycle’s tire pressure during winter if there is a big change in temperature; the cold weather might reduce the air pressure in your tires.
Use the recommended motor oil grade. Check the physical of your motorcycle to determine the recommended motor oil for your vehicle. Find a certified energy conserving oil if you want to change oil brand. Also, make sure that your better alternative doesn’t have friction-reducing additives.
Plan your trips. It will help you avoid traffic especially rush hour road congestion. Read and learn the road map if you aren’t much familiar with your destination. Watch news on television or listen to the radio for traffic update.
Keep your helmet’s face shield down. Fasten your helmet when you’re at high speed to lessen wind friction. As much as possible don’t wear loose clothing to lessen wind drag.
Don’t jackrabbit your engine. Avoid fast acceleration because it will eat up much gas. You must also avoid rewing your engine when you’re not moving. Some motorcyclists enjoy the loud rewing but it consumers much fuel.
Remove unneeded weight in your motorcycle. Only use saddle bags and other accessories if needed.
Travel at night. Night trips have lesser traffic and accidents. Try to bring someone along if you’ll be on a delicate trip.
You must also harness or master your driving skills. Like, you need to become certain in making directions. Uncertainty will lead you to mistakes like missed turns that will make you consume fuel more. You’ll be a better driver and you’ll save more fuel energy through dedication and care.
