How to prepare IELTS

Posted on 22:34 by Unknown
What is IELTS?

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. The IELTS is conducted to help universities and colleges to assess the English proficiency of a student. Since many students go to other countries to study, its crucial for universities to test their skills in English, as is the medium in countries. There other two modules are to academic knowledge and training General. The Academic Module is for students wishing to study in other countries, whereas general training module is for people who want to work, immigrate to other countries.

TEST FORMAT:

The IELTS test is divided into four sections: listening, reading, writing and speaking. All candidates sit the same listening and speaking test. The test of reading and writing are different for academic and general modules.

Listen:

The listening test takes approximately 30 minutes. There are 40 questions in 4 sections. Applicants are each provided with separate listeners to hear the listening test that is saved on a CD and played only once.During test, candidates must read the questions contained in the question sheet and verify the correct answer in the answer sheet. An extra 10 minutes will be allowed to transfer answers to answer sheet. A range of native speaker English accents are used in the listening test.

Reading:

The reading test lasts 60 minutes. There are 40 questions based on three reading passages. Applicants must answer questions for 60 minutes, because there will be no extra time to transfer answers to answer sheet.

Editors:

The written test takes 60 minutes. There are two sections in this test. Applicants must write a minimum of 150 words for section 1 and a minimum of 250 words for section 2. The questions will be different for general and academic modules.

Speaking:

The oral test lasts almost 15 minutes and consists of bones of an interview between the candidate and language tests examiner. All are made in a private room and part recorded.this consists of three sections. In Section 1, the candidate answers general questions about themselves. In Section 2, the candidate receives a subject on which he will speak for a minimum of 2 minutes. the candidate is allowed to prepare for a minute before he speaks. In Section 3, the examiner and the candidate participate in a discussion on abstract based on the theme given in the article 2.this lasts 4-5 minutes.

How to prepare?

IELTS preparation depends on each candidate skills in English. Some may need to undergo a special training class for a month, while some can prepare themselves with the help of study material. So the first step would rank your knowledge of English on your own (you obviously know that you are good in English). If you still can not grade yourself, then you can pass the test without model available on the Internet, they can be useful in the ranking of your English skills.

Now that you have yourself listed, you can get an idea about the time you need a coach or not. People who think they have bad grammar should consider goin to coaching.people which are generally good in English may consider establishing oneself. They can search in google to get lots of free IELTS materials.

Time Management:

Time management is another crucial factor when it comes to IELTS. However well you prepared, if you're not aware of time management, its hard to get a decent score in IELTS. Try to finish within the time when test practice will help a lot. Target band 7 is a good book that talks about time management and teach you valuable tips for writing IELTS exam.If you prepare yourself, I strongly recommend that you use this book.

Now that I've said all I know, I remember a few important tips.

Take rest of the day preceding the examination. Does not awake for long periods in the night before the examination because it will only make you tired and sleepy during the exam, and you will not be able to focus correctly on the exam.

Remember that IELTS is also an easy exam like the others and avoid becoming nervous during the exam.
Start preparing for exams earlier to avoid confusion at the last minute.
Take lots of practice tests, because it will help in time management and help you familiarize yourself with the examination and thus reduce nervousness during the exam.
