How to prepare for IELTS

Posted on 07:01 by Unknown
As IELTS is scored on a scale of 1-9, you can begin to practice for this exam, even if you only have a general knowledge of the English language. The lower level of English you have, the more you need to work to get the preferred level. However, your IELTS score depends not only on your overall level of English, but also on your knowledge of strategies and approaches to different types of questions used in the IELTS.

There are many ways to prepare for IELTS. Some candidates choose to enroll in a special course; others prefer to take individual lessons or study on their own. Regardless of what your path is, there are some things that you should always include in your study plan to have IELTS.

Choose several books that can give you an overview of the test format and explain how to approach different types of questions. We recommend you choose several, because one may contain some tips that are not mentioned in the other. Other tips that you know and use, the more you improve your IELTS performance. When you know how to approach each task, you are ready to practice tests.

Since you are penalized for spelling mistakes on your answer sheet, we advise you to pay attention to your vocabulary. There are special books that improve your vocabulary for IELTS and it may be a good idea to use one of them if you do not have much time before the test. However, the general advice is to read as many English newspapers and magazines as possible.

Do not forget the grammar. It is useful to review in preparation for the IELTS because it directly affects your notes in Speaking and Writing modules. If you do not have much time to prepare for the exam, the best way to find grammar topics you need to revise is to write essays and ask your teacher to check them. Your grammar errors that show subjects you to work.

To practice for the listener, try to listen to as many pod casts and TV shows English as possible. A great exercise is to listen to your practical test after you have already done. Try to listen to the recordings as many times as you need to catch all the phrases.

The finest way to develop your speaking skills is, of course, practice. However, if you prepare yourself, try to register to speak on different topics from practice language tests. When you're done, listen to the recording and watch your pronunciation, grammar and how your responses are complete.
